Ringers — Privacy Policy

Ringers ("we", "us") is a sports-event social platform operated by Ringers Sport Pty Ltd. This policy explains what information we collect when you use the Ringers mobile app, why we collect it, and the choices you have.

1. Information we collect

• Account information: your email address, username, and password (stored as a secure hash — we never see your password).
• Profile information you choose to add: name, bio, profile photo, sports you play, skill levels and optional ratings (e.g. golf handicap), gender, and birthday.
• Content you create: events (including their location and cost), posts, photos, comments, likes, chat messages, reviews of other players and hosts, follows, and reports.
• Location: with your permission, your device location is used to centre the map, find nearby events, and set event venues. We do not track your location in the background.
• Device information: a push-notification token (if you allow notifications) and basic device type, used to deliver notifications.

2. How we use your information

• To operate the app: showing events, the social feed, chat, profiles, and reviews.
• To send notifications you'd expect: join requests, confirmations, event reminders, and new messages. You can turn these off in your device settings at any time.
• To keep the community safe: processing reports, enforcing blocks, and moderating content.
• To respond when you contact us.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.

3. Who can see your information

• Your profile (username, name, photo, bio, sports, ratings and review scores) is visible to other signed-in Ringers users.
• Events you host and posts you share are visible to other users; feed posts appear to your followers.
• Chat messages are visible only to members of that conversation.
• Reviews you write appear on the reviewed player's profile with your username.

4. Service providers

We use trusted providers to run Ringers: Supabase (database, authentication, storage — data encrypted in transit and at rest) and Expo (app tooling and push-notification delivery). These providers process data on our behalf and are not permitted to use it for their own purposes.

5. Payments between players

Hosts may state a cost for an event (for example, splitting a pitch fee). Any such payment is arranged directly between players outside the app. Ringers does not process payments and does not collect payment card details.

6. Data retention and deletion

Your data is kept while your account is active. You can delete your account at any time in Profile → Settings → Delete account; this permanently deletes your profile and associated content and cannot be undone. You can also delete individual posts and messages you created.

7. Your rights

Subject to applicable law (including the Australian Privacy Principles), you may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information. Most of this is available directly in the app; for anything else, contact us and we'll respond promptly.

8. Children

Ringers is not directed at children under 16, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from them. If you believe a child under 16 has created an account, contact us and we will remove it.

9. Changes to this policy

If we make material changes we will update this page and note the date above, and where appropriate notify you in the app.
